Sound like these techy guys
Hi,
I'm new in producing. i will create some tracks like these examples with ableton.
The bass and the drums are not the problem.
But how can I make that groovy sound?

http://soundcloud.com/arts-and-leni/hol ... al-mix-cut
http://soundcloud.com/arts-and-leni/art ... -voladores
Maybe some can write some hints to get this techy style
cheers

The "groovy" sound originates from the period just after 1959 to just before 1970. What you need is a way to take your mind back to that era so you can find the inner groove... The rest will come naturally and simply flow directly into ableton like flowers float across the sky in a colourful rainbow.
Oh, and some musical experience might help a tad too.

maybe you can explain the groovy sound more detailed? the most groove comes from the percussion?
then they used a piano which hit on the kick? is that right?

I'm at work and am not in the mindset to be "groovy". If your ears aren't telling you what you need to know, no amount of words I could write will make it any clearer.

What JesterMcgee said was spot-on. However, if you wanted to make something similar, you're going to need vocal chops (Of whatever syllables and tones match your style), a piano (Ableton's integrated 'Electric' instrument should work fine if you know how to use it), and some nice sounding drums and padlayers! Good luck, and happy hunting!
