Is it possible to use two audio interfaces in a live session

Hi, i have an Mbox and a Novation X-station and would like to use both audio interfaces at the same time in a single ableton session. Is this possible? Or would i have to launch one Ableton Session (with mbox) and then launch another session (with the x station, in re-wire mode) and then route the secondly launched ableton to the 1st?

All i basically want to do is use both audio interfaces to record my band simultaneously.

Any ideas or alternatives? Im open to suggestions,

No, the current ASIO spec does not allow for 2 different ASIO drivers to be used simultaneously. The mechanics and calculations why this isn't allowed is pretty boring, but let's just say that the diversity of the hardware makes synching it a real nightmare.

Some card manufacturers (e.g. M-Audio) allow a single ASIO dirver to control multiple cards from that manufacturer. For instance, in my Cubase machine, I have 2 Delta 1010 cards and 2 Delta AP2496 cards, and I can use all of the analog inputs and outputs on all 4 cards. To keep my timing dead nuts on, I am using the S/PDIF to sync the cards together. The Multi-card sync option of the driver works pretty good, but the M-Audio tech guy recommended using the external connection.

in osx tiger there's the thing called "aggregate audio device" (i think) which basically enables you to group several physical devices to one coreaudio device and then use it on any software - so you could basically group mbox and x-station to one combo device, assign live to use it and have all their i/o in use.

i've no idea on how well it works in reality since i've got only one interface myself... but if you happen to be on osx 10.4 by chance, you might want to try it out.
