5.01 Rescans All VSTs on Launch

Post by CajunKev » Tue Aug 02, 2005 6:40 am

Hi all,

Live 5.01 insists on rescanning all of my VSTs every time it launches (and it's launching a lot since it crashes everytime the screensaver kicks in - I had over 10 crashes today). This is really irritating. I have a lot of VSTs and Live 4 didn't have these problems.

I was an early adopter because Live has been so solid in the past. Next update I may wait until all of you report the fixes are in.

Speaking of, what's the fix in this case??? I've already done trashed the prefs...

Thanks,
Kevin

Disable the screensaver, it's not good for DAW work.

re scanning vsts

Post by manimal » Tue Aug 02, 2005 9:51 am

i had this problem on my laptop
i found that it was only doing it with cubase exclusive plug ins
i found a solution in sorting all the vsts i knew worked in live
and copying them all in to a new vst folder and assigning this as the default vst folder
you do not need to uninstall cubase i have version 3sx running along
with live 5 without any problem

hope this helps

the solution for me was to disable NORTON AV whenever i boot up live... with norton running, boot time was about 4-5minutes... with norton disabled, my boot time is about 10-15 seconds....
