I'm just thinking out loud here, but if both of those things can work independently, wouldn't it be possible to run two (or more) Push at the same time in one Live session controlling totally independent things? Like a "Push Band" keeping its timing synced and having a unified recording environment in Live

Hm, I guess this will mean another company gets the money then for the second controller...
This seems to be a unnecessarily restrictive policy IMHO in Abletons part, which leads to nothing but a lost sale for them

if someone could make a tutorial on how to switch channels on controllers. that would help me out a lot here.

Download the manual for the MPD26.
Find a preset that uses Global channel for all the pads/knobs, instead of them each having pre-specified channels individually.
Look in the manual for how to change Global Channel.
Change it to 16 or something. Both the LP and APC use a bunch of channels, and are not reprogramable.
Lastly, between the APC and the LP, choose a controller which you will NOT remap, and turn off 'Remote' on that one. Or, if you do map anything on both, make a list of the channels and notes each device uses.
APC is 1-8, ch 1 handles all the extra stuff on the right side as note buttons
LP has a different channel for each page, plus different ones for each of the Mixer views, best way to make a list is to go into mapping mode while one page is showing, map, look at the channel that shows on Live, exit mapping, go to another LP page, etc.

Well, you can see that it would pose real design challenges. Push seems to be hard wired very closely into the design of Live, and that creates both power and a degree of rigidity. There would be huge opportunities for device conflicts, for instance. You would have to have a 'master' Push and a 'Slave' Push, for instance. You'd have to figure out how to instances of Push can contain different selected tracks in the same LIve Set. Wacky unrealistic ideas where Ableton could implement multiple Push controllers:
1. A "3-D" session view. This would pretty much be impossible and not efficient. It'd involve layers of Session layouts on top of each other, each for a Push. This would also open the door for selective clip launch on scenes.
2. Multi colored hands/arming/track select. This is my favorite, and possibly doable with a rewrite. The same way that control surfaces get unique colored Session grids, they'd also have that color for hand control, arming (so they each play into unique channels), and track selection. But I can imagine this being messy and CPU intensive

YES...I frequently lock/unlock 3 devices on average and I have to right click devices to see which is locked to which sometimes. Even though keeping a pattern of what you lock to what can make things less confusing, things get mixed up sometimes, especially in a heat of the moment performance.
Will mention at the beta forum. Great idea!

If that is not so then it's not possible, but if it is then I don't see the problem!
Even if two Push users try to access the same clip or same parameter, just let them fight it out. (Could even lead to interesting jam situations-in the end you are just trying to re-trigger a clip or turn an auto up-dated endless encoder really fast ). Most "Push bands" would probably learn pretty fast that it is better to stay off the other players turf though
What part of Live is visible (which part of the grid e.g.) would have to be arranged before hand I guess, but Push is about NOT looking at the monitor anyways.

Digging in the source code to comment things out, does not sound like a solution that is ready for the average user!A. Avoid conflicting cc's & notes between both scripts.
(Clue) - 'Comment out' any unneeded STC functions to free up Control CC's and MIDI Notes (as needed)
Could you elaborate how this helps with the "Push band" problem. How does combining the Midi data stream get you two clip grids and two blue hands?
