Post your set up and your sexy cat...
Hiya Annadyne, aurascene, elizabeth.
Thanks for the response. interesting synth. assx soon as you mentioned it I remembered it. I like the look of your set up. I see you have a Nord modular.I have one also. I loved it when I got it as I had wanted a modular based a round software for ages. It gets left out rather these days with all the amazing modular software available. I find that I am so lockeed in to using a computer that other stuff gets left out. I have had many analoguie synths including the SH101 and the complete Korg MS20/50 sq10 setup which I still have. Don't use it much but can't seem top let go of it. I also have some modular stuff I built and some roland 100m.
What sort of music do you do? I know silly question but I imagine you get some cool sounds from your setup

To Zenke and Website!
Thanks for your compliments on my studio - the Secret Orange Star. It's named after a fuzzy stuffed orange star that I've had since me diaper-draggin' days.

Yes, I was addicted to mine when I first got it - for quite a while.. then I started getting into other stuff when I got my first quackintosh.
But, I'm getting back into hardware and have bought a few new pieces - the ASR-X Pro pictured - because it's sooo nice to create sounds without having to look at them. A friend loaned me his ASR-X and I spend nearly all day with it just sampling myself and clanking objects then warping it with the pitch, lfo and the wacky FX. I had so much fun I decided to get one.. PLUS, I'm sick of feeling like I have to have a new computer every 1.56 years.... so investing in hardware is an easy way to keep tha CPU current, so to speak.
Oh yes... what kind of music do i do... hmmm. how to best answer... it's glitchy, funky with all different kindsa vocals thrown in--- operatic, semi-torch, chant... etc. It definitely has accessibility but it also has some unusual sounds. Sometimes I'll glitch up my vocals as part of the melody, too. Lotsa fun. I have some mp3 clips which I'm trying to find a free semi-anonymous place to post to.
Currently, I'm the sound director for a feature-length film titled Moon Europa - http://www.mooneuropa.com
Last year...finished scoring, foley and ADR for a short horror film that got into some film festivals last halloween. Mucho mucho worko... lots of synth and home-grown sampling... plus studying orchestration hard-core...
I also enjoy doing experimental improvisation with folks who have any sort of sound making device.... just to blast out or sigh some sounds without thinking too much about it all....
Influences: Zoviet France, A. Twin, Chrome, Bauhaus, Download, Sheila Chandra, John Hassell, Alice Coltrane, Merzbow, Diamanda Galas, Fennesz, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, early 4ad bands, Missy Elliott, Sonic Youth, Pauline Oliveros, Squarepusher, Johnny Cash, Bikin Kill, Fetisch Park, Birdshow, ... bla bla..... just a good healthy variety.
There ya have it.... if you drop me an email I'll send you a few mp3s of some stuff... [email protected]
cheers and thanks again!

sorry you had a yucky hangover - are you feeling better now???
thank you thank you thank you for your generous post of the tunes. please let me know what you think.
the ...'premix' one still needs a touch up here and there and the first section of vox needs to be redone... but i consider it mostly done.
cheerios,
elizabeth

"Aurascene" mp3 notes
For anyone who listens here's da details on the mp3s noisetonepause just posted for me......
Working artist handle - "Aurascene"
All sounds, programming and vocals by Elizabeth Lang.
"Cindiloop" was done in 2000 on four-track cassette with kurzweil sampler, ob echoplex and old delay pedal. way before i ever thought about getting a computer.
"Cris..PreMix2005" - is a rough part-song - it will be released in full on my upcoming album... at least it gives you an idea of one of my new sonic typecasts...
"Envoxis" appears on a short horror film that i finished scoring and foleying last year. it was done mostly with a nord modular, kurzweil k2000 sampler, electrocomp 101, and metasynth. i didn't even have a regular midi sequencer back then - so all i could use was'metatrack'- metasynth's complementary sequencer - no midi and no sync! the only way you could line stuff up was using metasynth's tiny sound pictures. very arghy but got the job done.
the ringy rhythmic sounds at the beginning of "Envoxis" are from the 101.
anyways.... hope you enjoy! constructive criticism and ideas are very welcome.
love and more love,
elizabeth

hi anadyne. i've just listened to your mp3s and i'm really impressed. i especially like "cristelan", the vocals are really cool. the other two are great aswell, i can understand how "envoxis" would be perfect in a horror movie as its very dark and atmospheric. v good stuff. by the way, if you're interested, go here http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24274 where you'll find a link to some of my stuff.
