(Pasted from an email recently sent to Abes Support. Trying to get some input here)
Hi guys.
When arranging voices in a classical way, MIDI (and even audio) layering is an immensely valuable technique. As some other Live users, I find somehow hard to implement this in Live in a more visual approach.
Ideally, something like http://youtu.be/lr90DrotfWo would be great but I don't want to go outside Live anymore and instead of buying Samplitude I would prefer to buy Max + Gen !
Probably you guys at Ableton Support keep track of related work arounds. I was thinking that you may point me to some of them. I'm interested in learning how other Live users address this creative need.
Please, just send me the more info you may have. Establishing a MIDI layering workflow will make a huge difference.
Warm regards.

Something like this?

Re: A MIDI Layering Workflow
Also clip-based layered midi editing and to decide which midi track is just visible and which is visible AND editable.
