midi routing

Post by eddiex » Sun Nov 10, 2013 9:16 pm

so yesterday i put an MS2000R on layaway..before i get it home i'm trying to figure out what i need/how to midi sync it with LIVE's clock.
i have a 2011 macbook pro. with 2 usb ports (one being taken up by an apc40 one being taken up with a mpd32)
and a duet v1 firewire(no midi ins/outs)
i will be playing the ms2000 with either an axiom 25 or my old maschine mk1 controller (if it isn't too much to set it up)
the question is, obviously the MS2000R doesn't have a usb out and my duet doesn't have midi capabilities.
should i get a midi hub? (if so which one)
or if i am using like, say the axiom, plugged into the usb port, and the midi out to the ms2000 and audio in to the sound card....will it sync with LIVE's clock (basically using a controller as a midi hub)
or does it not work like that?

It will work the way you have mentioned above. The Midi ports on the axiom can be used to route LIVE's clock to the MS2000. You will obviously have to set the prefs in LIVE correctly (ie sync to the axiom out) and set the MS2000 to be on either AUTO or EXT midi sync (in the global midi settings menu if I remember correctly).

Enjoy the MS2000, I really love that synth and still can't believe some of the sounds it's capable of producing!
