Santa Cruz/South Bay live looper/multi-instrumentalist?

Post by funkateer » Sun Aug 07, 2005 1:33 am

Looking for the other half of a jazz/funk/DnB/hip-hop/downtempo/ambient (i.e. whatever happens) live looping duo. I play electric upright bass, electric bass, and some keys. My laptop runs both Live and Reason, and I use an FCB1010 to record and trigger loops in Live 4, and a Kontrol49 to interact with Reason 3.

If you are an instrumentalist currently messing with a similar setup, lets get together, sync our MIDI clocks, and jam! My ideal partner in crime would be a bad ass Roland Handsonic drum player who can double on some lead instrument like sax, guitar, violin, keys, etc., but if you are local, play some other instrument, and live loop it (with or without Live), drop me an email or PM.

funkateer - i live too far north to do any kind of project (harbin hot springs, 2 hours north of SF) but it would be good to get together some time . i play dub and funk and jazz, downtempo, trip and hip hop, ambient, reggae. and faster beats - house, trance, techno and most of the hybrids. i am a keyboardist and hand drummer, electronic drummer and do vocals as well. my DAW and Live set up is only 2 months old so its gonna be another couple months till i'm dialed. my last band was an improvisational dance band, but i was all modular - sampler, sp 808, electrix's products, etc. . there are wild dances here 3x week, so theres plenty of opportunity to do my thang. i'm really fuckin psyched about the massive power of this set up i've made!! Live is my life now! (and the woman/women, too - secondarily but importantly). to me , Live is my opportunity to inject a percentage of structure and compostiion into my typically improv-world-view. so for the next few months i'll be dialin' my system, organizing loops, gathering and perfecting my drum patches and sampler patches and keyboard patches, gathering snippets of words and ready, set go! it would be cool to compare notes some time. are you happy in santa cruz? there's some great musicians up here... peace
