Live 5 - CLips are movin but there's no sound!
I have a basic set with2 channels, 8 WAV songs/clips on each track, all set to RAM and COMPLEX.
After playing for a couple of minutes, any clip I trigger cuts out after a couple of bars, as in it will play and say it's playing but no audio will come through.
This is very frustrating, I just want to do some basic work with live 5 now since i've given up on it for large productions.

when you say "after playing for a couple of minutes", what do you do exactly?
do you play with the loops inside the clips?
is your arrangement loop on?
if this is the case, i've reported a bug that could be similar:

It would happen to every clip in all situations. I could play a clip and just let it play and not tweak anything and it will cut out eventually.

no, seriously, you mean you just start clips, let them play without even touching them and they stop by themselves?
that definitely is a problem.

great to know i'm not alone!
i reinstalled windows and after a lot of tweaking Live has managed to stop doing this. I do know I've avoided using RAM mode on clips and im scared to because quite frankly, i'm happier making music than not...
but what I can share is that once I got my first incling of a stable Live5, I used a program called Deepfreeze which is kind of like "Nortons Ghost" but actually works at every bootup, so once you are hapy with your setup, not a single file or registry key or ANYTHING could possibly change and go wrong. And that for me has been fantastic.

Experiencing this problem too..
in arrange view, suddenly most of the clips i have in one of my tracks have stopped sounding . No apparent reason. havent been able to reproduce it deliberately, but its happened a few times before.
The In/output meters on the vsts on that channel are jumping when these inaudible clips play.. as if there _is_ audio there somewhere.
Still cant finish the one project i've started in live 5 due to getting stuck with this, and other bugs
edit: restarting my machine seems to have fixed the clips that werent playing.

that sounds nasty. why does it need a reboot, what does reboot offer you?
maybe restarting Live solves it
or maybe restarting the asio-drivers solves it

Maybe it is playing but shifted outputs like my system did?
I have a similar situation with my system. I am using a P4 3.4Ghz PC, 1 GB RAM, and a Layla20 soundcard. What I noticed is that my outputs had shifted from 1 & 2 to 3 & 4 when I check out the meters in the Layla console software. When I plug my mixer into 3 & 4 I've got sound, but I don't like losing 1 & 2 and it is freaking goofy having them mismapped in Live. It also means that when I am using my PC for other tasks (i.e. surfing the net) I don't get sound because that is appropriately routed to 1 & 2. I could consume more of my mixer, but I really don't like that idea as a permanent solutions. I talked to M-Audio about it today and they didn't know. I will check again with them tomorrow, but please let me know if any of you have any ideas.
Thanks,
Michael

Ardent - I don't see how that is in any way connected. (or why you're speaking to M-Audio?)

I'm having this problem too. It's a major pain in the ass.
Sometimes the clips stop playing (well, they don't stop but the sound does) after a bit. In a busy arrangement sometimes whole tracks won't play - or they'll cut in and out.
It's intermittent but this is happening on a project I'm working on atm, even though all samples are loaded into RAM and CPU use is at around 30-40%.
De-selecting and re-selecting the RAM button solves it, but this if this is a problem with Ableton it's serious. It would make the program totally unreliable in a live situation.
The only thing I can think, aside from it being a Live! bug, is that there's something wrong with my RAM, so I'm going to check that out first.
