Question about saving and moving files in Lives browser?
I've come across a couple of problems when trying to save my own custom instrument racks.
No matter where I focus the browser (ie to my own custom folder where I keep all my own sounds and patches) Live always goes to save the file in a different place ( in the case of instrument racks I think it's the empty instrument rack folder in presets).
Also, once it's been saved in the place I don't want it, there doesn't seem to be anyway of moving it within the browser. I have to manually do it with a couple of finder windows instead.
So my questions are, 1) is it possible to save files to a location you designate (not where Live wants to put them)? and 2) is it possible to move files around from within the browser?
If so, how? (A point in the direction of the relevant section in the manual would be greatly appreciated).

(2) Yes
What I do is: save a preset. Live always puts the preset in the User Library -> Presets folder. Where it goes within Presets depends on what you are saving.
Then I just go there, click and drag it to any other place in the User Library.
As far as I can see the underlying .adg file then gets automatically moved to the corresponding place in the User Library folder structure
I suppose that you could have a 'save as...' function within the preset save option. But even without it, I don't find it too clumsy.

Hmmm, I'll give it another go later, but whenever I try and drag and drop a file from one folder to another within Lives browser, nothing happens...
Like I say, I always end up having to do it in Finder.

What do you mean, nothing happens?
You should get either a little white file icon or a black 'no entry' sign depending on whether the folder your pointer is hovering on a folder that can accept the file, or not.

Well, what I mean by "nothing happens" is the file I'm trying to move stays exactly where it is.
I'm afraid I can't remember from the top of my head what icons appear or don't appear and I can't check as I'm at work without my computer. But like I say, I'll have another go later.

Instead of clicking the Save button you can simply drag the device into your library. So first browse to the folder in your library where you want the preset to go, and then drag from the title-bar of the device into the location you browsed to.
