it's not that i'm entirely ignorant to whats possible there, (and by the way, why would you need NRPN for filter cutoff control? thats just a CC on most synths) it's just that i'm not working with hardware that needs that anymore.
Hardware i still use on a regular basis:
ob matrix 1000 - I have an old imac that only runs unisyn to edit and save patches for it. I can set it up so i can automate what i want with, mod wheel, after touch, and other cc's. no problem doing that stuff in live after its set up. Excited that there is an osx editor in the works. (kinda buggy right now)
SH101 - Well, no midi support there anyway. I used to have a kenton pro one midi / CV for it, but lent it to someone who.... oh nevermind, thats another story.
mpc2000 - still love it, still use it, but only need midi clock to use it.
got rid of ALL of my hardware samplers and all of my rom-plers since computers have made them obsolete IMO.
the only other hardware i'd really like at this point are modular synthesizers..
anyway, i'm just saying, i'm not a total idiot when it comes to hardware, i'm just not in a position where "advanced" MIDI makes any sense to me. Fuck, when i was doing that, it only took a few layers of automation to bog down midi to the point of uselessnes anyway.
I can understand the plight of the person who posted this. I imagine they probably have a multi timbral rom-pler kind of thing with about a million patches that they want to choose by name from live's screen. I get it, i'm just happy that i don't have to do that shit anymore.
Fuck better midi implementation, its not 1980 anymore, lets move on to something like OSC and better software instruments....
