This dual monitor business. What am I not getting??
I don't get this. Whats the big deal. Screen sets. Why can't you do screen sets? For example, with Logic, I like to stretch the arrangement or the piano roll, mixer, or whatever all across both monitors, as well as a million other configs and save them as screen sets.
Now with Live 9.1, it seems I can't do that...well maybe the session view might stay stretched but the arrangement page won't. It'll simply jump onto a single monitor when switching views. I can't even, say, stretch both views across both monitors and save it as a temple cause when I'd reopen they just snap to one monitor.
At least in v9, I can stretch the window across both monitors and it'll stay that way as a template. Granted you need to switch to either session or arrangement as always but it does it really matter?? Nice and roomy, ability to see tons of clip tracks or bars in an arrangement, or, a session and arrangement squeezed on a single monitor? Quite frankly the latter sucks balls.
And 2 monitor support is supposed to be some big whoopdee do???
Btw, I also understand you can swap out the arrangement on its own monitor for the midi and audio editors I think. But I can't figure that one out... because there's no manual that I can see for 9.1 or no bloody screen sets. Grrrrrrr
Anyway, am I just a dumb novice here and am oblivious to the benefits of the glorious 2 monitor support?

Feedback on beta version is perhaps best posted in beta forum?

That's true but didn't really think of it as I have the impression that's this 'feature' is fait accompli. The Finn wrote:Feedback on beta version is perhaps best posted in beta forum?
Doubt they're going to be implementing screen sets at this point considering if it took so long just getting this hackneyed 'feature'
Re: This dual monitor business. What am I not getting??
Then use Logic and be happy.

Why be happy when you can bitch about it instead of working around a mild inconvenience?

I am. Doesn't mean Live has to be so primitive in that regard
Re: This dual monitor business. What am I not getting??
IMO the other hosts are the ones primitive in their GUI.
Would be interesting to know what % of Live users really have a use for this feature.

Lets not start a war of the DAW again.
I have made a few suggestions to Ableton in regards to how the multi-monitor setup may be better accomplished. As with anyone using a Beta and part of the Beta program, it's a good idea to use the Beta forum and post comments and suggestions direct to the Devs rather than the community. If enough people agree and voice their opinions in the right places, things will get done and the 9.1 will hopefully prove more stable than prev releases because of this.

If ya'll think my screen set suggestion is something that is possible to implement at this stage, then I'll shoot beta team a note

Disclaimer: I am using Live 8 and have not even tried 9 or 9.1. I am just a curious geek.
What is your dual display mode? Is it set to something like "extend desktop" or just separate monitors?
Like, is your graphics card recognizing both displays as one big display, or as two separate displays?

In fact it's a second window so you don't need two monitors.
