Using Absynth as a plug in problem

Post by Kir » Sat Aug 06, 2005 1:25 pm

Whenever I load up Absynth as a plug in my MIDI keyboard doesn't play it. Live recognises that I am playing MIDI notes, but no sound comes out of Absynth.

However, when I load up the Operator lesson tutorials and then load up Absynth it plays fine.

What am I doing wrong, and why does Live seem to configure it fine, when only accessing the Operator lesson?

Thanks

Make sure your channels are setup properly for the midi track and your midi controller. It can't talk to the computer if they are on different channels. Also, look in to midi files input setting. There are the options IN, AUTO, OFF. Make sure IN is selected when trying to play the VST. There is no documentation for this in LIVE so it took me a while to figure this out. When you are ready to record the midi, press the arm button (small circle) for the corresponding midi track.

In my opinion, they need better documentation on MIDI in general. As I still have no clue as to why my MIDI is rendering as silence with the audio portion.

Thanks. I'll give it a go. I would have thought it would auto configure...!!
