How do I make a pad function as a sustain pedal?

Post by shalomattheworkplace » Sun Nov 17, 2013 3:09 am

Hey everyone. I'd like to make a pad function as a fully pressed sustain pedal. I want to have it toggled so I can play my notes, press sustain button and press it again when I want the notes to stop holding. I have edited a pad to MIDI CC64 and 69 but neither of them worked, I'm not good at MIDI :(

Do I need to get a sustain pedal for this?

I have the latest Ableton 7.

64 should work.

Sometimes a controller is 'off by one' and like 63 or 65 or something but I imagine it is probably 64.

Make sure Track is turned on in Live's midi preferences for that controller. And make sure you're using cc64 and not note 64. I don't think channel would make a difference but if you must, go for 1. Finally, if that controller is using any 'Control Surface' stuff in midi preferences, turn it OFF for now, just in case it interferes. And make sure 64 isn't already mapped to anything in midi mapping mode.

Ya it doesn't seem to work. Im using MPK Mini and the pads seem to have to sent note information as well, could that be affecting it??

I bought a Quneo the same day I bought my MPK Mini and just installed the quneo but my friggin system specs seem to be off. It requires 2.3 ghz processor and I only have 2. GOOD GOD!! O well the comp im using is borrowed anyhow.

I have a hard time believing that the 0.3GHz difference will make any noticable difference for a Midi controller!
