--------have to climb out of the blackhole that is u-He Zebra for a second-----------
Anyone else using Google Drive or any other cloud service? First 15 GB is free, and seeing as my important projects only take up around 8GB, I figured NOT using it is a bit mad.
I use both a desktop and a laptop for Live. I've set up my projects so that they reside inside of Google Drive's folder on my PC and laptop. Now, whenever I work on a track on one computer, as I save it it automatically gets synced to the cloud, and therefore my laptop also gets synced. The other more important feature is that my data is safe, constantly. If my home burns down or gets robbed, I still have my Ableton projects online.
I know you get home hub setups with wireless hard drives, synced to all PCs and cloud service etc, but I can't be bothered to buy and set up such a system. Unless someone can tell me why I should be doing that, which would be most welcome.
Either way, I'm real happy I don't have to copy files to and fro anymore when I feel like working with the laptop elsewhere in the home. I also get the feeling my desktop HDD is about to fail any day, as it makes soft clanky noises upon boot up, so I'm happy in the fact that my files are secure.

I use the same approach, with Dropbox. I keep both my Library and all my sets in the cloud, and sync my PC and laptop to one another in this way. It's been working well so far

Well the big advantage to this approach is that this way you will have at least one listener.....the NSA

Now if I could bury encrypted messages in my sound files, life could get very interesting

If you are already transfering sound files, that would be very easy. The Finn wrote:Now if I could bury encrypted messages in my sound files, life could get very interesting
Just embed your encrypted file and rename it to .wav. No one will ever know.
(But there are much easier ways to transfer encrypted infos)
Re: Ableton projects backup and Google Drive
I've Recently started doing this as well and its great...
As a plus for Google drive, it seems to keep deleted files in the trash for longer than Dropbox(Dropbox only keeps two weeks or something).
It saved my ass on a project I deleted by accident a few months ago.
i'll never have to worry about another hard drive failure again.. thankfully.
