Does anyone know if it's possible to "add" comping to Ableton 9 by using a plug-in or another light-weight tracking program?
I picture it working like this:
Initial tracking:
- Add new audio track in Ableton
- Click record in Ableton and the audio gets passed into the plug-in
- Per usual, the audio output of the plugin would get record in Live
- Click record on track again. Audio goes into plugin which now has the first take and the second take
- Clicking playing in Ableton now plays take 2/the most recent take on the audio track
Comping:
- open up plug-in; all of the takes to date are present
- comp takes
- Click record in Ableton again but input no audio; the plugin would "print out" the final comp
Just a rough idea. Does anything like this exist?
Comping Plug-In?
Re: Comping Plug-In?
Whenever I've done this, I usually just end up using a bunch of dummy audio tracks, routing the audio to a main track (or using Grouping so they have all the same effects/bussing etc.) and manually chopping, then moving them all to the final keeper audio track when I'm done.
