Group filtering and sends issue
I've read a few other threads on this but no comprehensive answer that I could find. Here is my issue:
I have 6 (post fader) sends in my custom template including reverbs, delays, chorus and NY compression and each track I use (be it snare, samples, fx) sends varying amounts of signal off to these.
When I strap a filter (Auto filter or Camel Phat) on an individual track, I can filter out highs and lows no problem (and no sign of the sends).
However, when I use the same filter technique on a group bus, I can filter the dry signal ok but still hear the sends.
I understand post and pre FX sends but can't understand why this works ok on the individual channel but not the group? My main need for this is to high pass filter the drum bus at the end of phrases but I can still hear the NY compression send. I can't really filter out the send too as other elements outside of the drum bus are using it at the same time.
Any help appreciated.

Re: Group filtering and sends issue
An effect added to an audio track, or a group track, is called an insert effect, and all audio passes thru insert effects before reaching the sends.
All audio tracks in a group route their audio to the group track last:
Audio From/In --> Insert FX --> Sends (Pre) --> Mixer Controls --> Sends (Post) --> Audio To/Out

Ah, thanks for the reply, that would make sense. Would there be a workaround for my situation do you think?

Re: Group filtering and sends issue
Yep. Create a new audio track to use as a buss track. Then use the "Audio To:" menu to route the Group or individual audio tracks, and the return tracks, to the new buss track.

Re: Group filtering and sends issue
Thanks for the reply but that would still mean I am filtering the whole send track which also has non-drum parts being sent to it (I only wish to filter the drums). Surely if I filter the drums, then nothing would be being sent to the send? Sorry, I can't quite get my head around why Ableton routes in such a way.

Any more thoughts on this please? Surely there is a way to filter a 'group' (be it group or audio bus) that includes the sends?
Re: Group filtering and sends issue
if i understand your problem correctly you could use a m4L plug called multimap
it maps a control to multiple destinations so one could send a filter cutoff to 6 instances of that filter in each track of a group, for example.
does that make sense? msg me if you dont hear back from me and need more clarification . . im not on here alot.
