Pro Tools Mini Grand in Ableton?

I was hoping to use the Mini Grand plug-in (that comes as part of Avid's Virtual Instruments install) within Ableton. The plug-in works fine within PT, but no sign of it in Ableton. Any suggestions?

Worth noting: From what I can tell, the plug-in file is a .big file that doesn't live within the normal VST folder in my Library/Audio/Plugins. It lives in Applications/Avid/Avid Virtual Instruments/Mini Grand.

The Pro Tools plug-ins cannot be used within Live. They are of a different format, i.e., they're not VSTs. They are either RTAS or AAX, depending on whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of PT.

If you'd like to incorporate the mini-grand sound in your Live set, there is a workaround. You can export your Live set to a wav or aiff file and then import into a new PT session. (Make sure that the tempo, bit depth and sampling rate of the PT session matches the parameters of the Live set). Then go ahead and record the mini-grand.

After you've recorded the mini-grand, bounce the track to disc as a wav or aiff. Then you can import the file back into your Live set.

Thanks for the heads up Ajbbklyn. What a bummer. I wanted to play the Mini Grand VST in a live setting. I guess I'll just keep using the built in Ableton piano sounds.

And, the good news is, there are lots of great sampled pianos you can play in Ableton.
