Where is "Analogue Filter"?
I've got Live 9 Suite and I can't seem to find any simple Analog Filters. All I want is a simple filter - the same kind you would find in an effects panel on a DJ mixer. No flashy effects, no delay, just plain old filter. Anybody? I've DLed all my packages and I'm not coming up with anything.
This guy uses it in his tutorial:

Thanks guys!

Check the Auto Filter device.
The guy with the video more than likely created that rack himself, probably using Auto Filter.

It's actually part of this commercial ableton pack: http://minimalsystem.com/Store/index.ph ... duct_id=75

I thought that first too, but is Auto Filter an analogue modeled filter? Would be news to me.stringtapper wrote:Check the Auto Filter device.

No I wasn't thinking along those lines. I've only designed digital filters and don't even know what goes into "analoging" a digital filter. Probably introducing subtle randomness in the Q or cutoff…?TomViolenz wrote:I thought that first too, but is Auto Filter an analogue modeled filter? Yeah I saw that package a couple of days ago. Gee makes sense - it's only one of the most common electronic music effects of all time, why include it with Live? (smh)
Excuse me while I spend five dollars on something that should have been included in a $700 production suite.

I was rather thinking of subtle fold back saturation whith higher resonance. Equilibrium, that I have my longing eyes set at, is doing this I think.stringtapper wrote:No I wasn't thinking along those lines. Are you looking for an analoge modeled filter, or just any filter/eq in general?misterhops wrote:Yeah I saw that package a couple of days ago. Gee makes sense - it's only one of the most common electronic music effects of all time, why include it with Live? (smh)

Because the later is well represented in Live through EQ8 and Autofilter, while the first is not a common standard in any DAW I'm aware of.

Re: Where is "Analogue Filter"?
I suppose you could use the Filter Q in EQ 8? But even then you have to design your own filter. I'm just looking for something quick and easy. I'll live I suppose.

Forgive my question, but this is a gap in my knowledge.
Leaving aside the theoretical differences between digital and analog, what exactly would you say are the defining features of an "analog filter" in terms of an end result?

There's a bit of a gap there for me too. I mean, they're all digital effects, but by analog I mean it mimics the sound of analog. That filter I'm talking about is a very basic filter, and can be found on most analog DJ mixers, effects racks, etc. Then you have all of these crazy digital filters, like the auto filter presets, filter delays, yaddy yaddy the list goes on. The filter I've been looking for just basically "filters" all your eq (as you will hear in that video I posted). It's that iconic sound you hear when I DJ drowns out his beat.

Are you really sure the caracteristic you are looking for is analog? Because I think you would only hear this if you raise the gain past distorting/clipping.misterhops wrote:There's a bit of a gap there for me too. It sounds to me like Autofilter or EQ8 can do exactly what you want (filtersweeps and taking out different elements while you play etc.). I would even say that Autofilter is made with this use case in mind!

Negative on the auto filter. Yes, the actual sound I'm looking for does come out of auto filter, but not the functionality. To my knowledge there is no way of turning off it's "auto" features. Meaning if you activate it it sweeps and decides which sounds to filter out without you physically controlling it by rotary. It's annoying. You have I think 6 options of how you want your filter to perform.

Re: Where is "Analogue Filter"?
Also - i use "analog" on in the sense that that was the name of the filter in that video - which I have been constantly looking for. Once I saw that guy use it I was like "that's the filter I've been looking for! Surely it's included in Live Suite 9!"
