Pitch slider for tempo nudge in Session mode

It was just a thought that occurred to me that as the pitch slider doesn't do anything in session mode it would be nice if it could be used to bend the tempo as there's no functionality for it on the Push yet and ergonomically the pitch slider is located in almost the perfect position. My python chops aren't up to scratch to do it myself yet but I believe it should be possible by editing the Push python scripts. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea? Or can anyone give me a reason why it might not be?
