Uplift trance kick elements advice

I have been learning the art of producing using Ableton as my DAW for the past three years. I have been into trance since it arrived in England around 1990. I continue to be inspired by the ever evolving but loyal set of young producers who are putting out some great stuff and doing their bit to re-claim the true sound of trance. The genre has been laying dormant whilst trance was being hijacked by piss poor music that had to relation or right to be associated with trance.
I am currently working on a project to explore the elements and methods which are characteristic of uplifting trance. I need some help to determine the aspects employed in manipulation of the kick drum to achieve the widely used and infectious sound of the kick. In my limited knowledge I would only go as far to suggest that the attack is short, with little or no tail on the kick. I know that we all hear things slightly different but I hope somebody kinda gets my drift. It would also be very appreciated if anybody knows of any relevant and recent sample packs or one shot samples of these type's of kick so that I can understand and study it fully.

As with any type of analysis your best bet would be to go to the source. Find a track that has the kick you are trying to make and cut it out of the track. Find a spot where the kick is by itself and just chop it out. Rather than trying to find that kick make it out of other kicks you already have by layering. Find a kick that has a top you like and filter out the low end. Then find a kick with a bottom end that you like and filter out the top. Adjust the timing and filters until it sounds right then bounce that out as a new kick. Also don't be afraid to just steal the kick from another track as well.

look into the SPL transient designer plugin..it can really help to easily give your kick that snappy, short attack while retaining body...

To the OP: you should at least choose the second aproach, but I would take it further and say, try to make it through synthesis. This way you will really understand what it's all about.
I bet you will learn a lot about your favorit gengre too!

+1 on the transient designer. Doesn't have to be the SPL one though, there are several good ones out there!

I have been ill for a while and I wanted to apologise for not thanking the people who have kindly replied to my post. I really need to get this sorted as I feel my illness is getting the better of me and I wondered if any of you who have been so kind to reply would be able to offer a bit of there time and help me with a few questions regarding this kick drum topic and a couple of bits and bobs also as I really want to make this project see the light of day and could really do with your valuable advice as i feel I am getting a bit lost.
