Re: iPad

I just have a normal wireless mac keyboard for the ipad.

I don't want the hassle of a giant iPad case 100% of the time, the case I use is very slim and does the traditional triangle thing to stand up as a screen. Because it's rare I need a keyboard, so when I do I can just sling the normal mac one in my manly bag. It handles the abuse pretty well.

keyboard cases seems a bad idea to me. Too big and cumbersome, and a sign you should have bought a new laptop instead.

However, I do get weird looks in the cafe touch-typing furiously on my wireless k/b with the ipad screen a few feet away on a table. It looks a bit odd.

I used the Apple wireless keyboard with it but that’s just plain awkward or unusable when lounging around like in a chair or in bed without some kind of table involved.

Right now my iPad Air is caseless. I’ll probably just get some kind of back decal because that’s all I’m really worried about scratching up. So I’d like a keyboard case I can easily just snap the iPad in and out of when I need to use it and that would probably be good protection for on the go, meaning I want a little bit more than just a keyboard that has a slot in it for the iPad.

I've tried a few of the keyboard cases out, and while it's more tactile and slightly easier to type, it's still so cramped I don't really want to. Luckily the iPad's spell check is getting really good at my lazy half-assed attempts at writing with the Air. It's not ideal, for really long things I still want my laptop, but it's not too bad after a little bit to get used to it.

Like an iPhone felt at first. Hard as hell to type with, but now we don't care at all about how it's still hard as hell to type with.

I have little girl hands. So that may not be an issue. :x

so i was going to some hot springs completely off the grid this weekend... since i've been streaming my music from my iPhone via bluetooth on my stereo in my car... i knew this slick modern wonder would be an issue once i got out of cellular range. so i purchased a low profile 8 GB Sandisk USB drive to plug into the USB port of said car stereo.

i copied over a variety of non threatening (mostly) peaceful albums that my girlfriend would approve of for our jaunt into the land of clothing optional sulfur infused hot water... The Gotan Project, Thievery Corporation, Pretty Lights, The Dining Rooms, Dynamic Syncopation, Portishead, Amy Winehouse, Sneaker Pimps... to name a few. Right before I left I popped in the thumb drive and Pretty Lights started playing... quite happily i drove away and didn't think any more of it. about 40 miles into the trip I realized that the shuffle was only working on Pretty Lights (no biggie) but that I had heard the song that was playing (at least) once already... I tried to change albums... no go. it was then that i realized that none of the music i had purchased from iTunes was showing up... oh, it's all on the USB drive... it just won't play.

fuck you Apple. :x

not coincidentally, i copied Pretty Lights over from my Windows based laptop to my iMac... then (months later) over to this new USB drive... hence the reason i was able to listen to one album out of 6 GBs of music that i had to wait to be transferred over on the way out the door.

did i mention, fuck you Apple! :x

i paid for that shit.

Why didn’t you just sync the music you wanted to hear to your iPhone?

because i have a USB port on my care stereo that doesn't require me to have my phone with me/charged etc. it just seemed like turning it into a jukebox was a cool way to go. besides, it looks better with a low profile USB drive in it.

and in the end... i downloaded most of it from the cloud before we got out of cellular range. but still!!! :x

what if Sprint was my provider? 8O

why can't i export music i payed for to a USB drive? :x

I don’t know. :x I’m rocking an iPod Classic running through a cassette adaptor in my car.

Maybe you should just buy one of those 2014 cars that is all Apple’d out with the syncing. And you don’t have to buy a new car every 2 years, but you probably should to keep current. :x

If it is on the USB drive than it is probably the format problem. I got myself model that has it all CD, USB,SD,Aux,BT but remember that when I was checking all those options, SD or USB stick wouldnt play all formats- no AIFF, no WAV 24 bits, I think no WAV at all, just mp3. Maybe you have to convert the music that wont play, into mp3.
I use iPhone 99% of the time, after few SD and USB sticks got lost or broken, lost my intrest. I like that using iPhone with headphones, get into the car and it continues to play over car stereo. The other thing is checking my work in progress , iPhone plays 24 bit AIFF.

Didn’t want to originally say it, but manufactures of electronics that aren’t computers love to slap USB ports on every damn thing and 90% of the time they don’t work as advertised, 95% of the time if that USB device touched an Apple product at any point in its lifespan. FACT. :x

95% of the tracks i dragged on to my other USB drive from Windows worked. i never listened to the other 5% because i don't have that much goddam time in my life. :x

plus it was a hideous eye sore... hence the reason i bought this low profile (laptop style) one especially for this trip... and moving forward.
