auto fading looper?
I want to fade my live ableton looper loops in & out, non-destructively. I can't find a *simple* vst plugin to fade volume in and out. There are some out there, but none have a single latched button to trigger the fade, which can be midi-mapped to fade in/out.
A want a single midi button to fade out over a given time, then fade back in when pressed again.
Am I missing a trick?
Any ideas?

What if you put a Utility before it? Then you could program some dummy clips with fades. Or, you could use the M4L LFO to control the Utility's gain.

Tried this - great! I've actually managed to do a dummy clip fade without utility, just automate the track volume. I still think a timed track fade button would be a good feature to include in Live.aberkow wrote:What if you put a Utility before it? Then you could program some dummy clips with fades. Glad it worked! I could see where your way would work too. Alternatively, you could put the looper in a return track. Then if you wanted you could route a bunch of sounds to it in different amounts.

Re: auto fading looper?
This technique promises to be invaluable - I'm a looping guitarist and would rather play than bend over a laptop rotating knobs - I can set up a whole series of modulation effcts and have them change while I'm playing - very excited about the prospects! My (hardware) looping can be found here. www.looping.me.uk
Re: auto fading looper?
I envy you guitarists/string players sometimes. I play clarinet and bass clarinet and getting a clean signal into a looper is often incredibly difficult. More often than not my mics pick up whatever the speakers are playing, but slightly out of time with the original loops. I've been working on ways to use this to my advantage, but it's slow going.
Re: auto fading looper?
It is something very difficult for me. And does not work as you are telling.
I am using Ableton Looper as an Audio Track (I did not want as FX track because I need to send both instrument and reverb to the looper and did not found any solution).
My midi piano goes directly to the looper (to be able to loop it anytime)
After I finish looping I want to fade out looper slowly, but when I move volume slider Ableton also fades out the part I am currently playing - everything all together (because my MIDI piano goes directly to the looper)
No idea please help how to do it. Thank you

I have one track dedicated to the instrument, then the looper is on the next track, fed from track 1 post-fx. The dummy clip fades the volume on the loop track, leaving the original input still at normal volume.mcmaklin1 wrote:After I finish looping I want to fade out looper slowly, but when I move volume slider Ableton also fades out the part I am currently playing
I have 3 dummy clips - fade out, fade in and "restore full volume immediately"
