I got mine for $830 (including shipping) during Black Friday. The actual upgrade cost will depend on how much I can get for my Mk2 + Decksaver. I do think the Mk2 is a fantastic device....

My Push arrives on Tuesday.... got that for $509 shipped... I hope all you guys can do better than me....

What I really meant was.. the cost of Maschine Studio minus the cost of a MKII comes to 400€ All you're really getting for that extra money are a couple of small screens and a jog wheel.

The integration between the Ver. 2 of the software and Maschine Studio is top notch. So it is more than just 2 screens and a jog wheel. I'm hoping this type of integration will come with the next version of Push, until then I will stick with my Studio.

i have really problems after years of drawing notes with the mouse - eyes fixed to the monitor -
using all the nice things Push can do. Ok.. In first place i needed a second controller
to pingpong my tracks, so decided to get the latest. Same way i did with the APC40.

In point assigning own configs i am much better in use with the APC40.
Maybe you should start making a track only with the things push can do,
and dont touch your mouse! in case of plugins like omnishere or ethno
you maybe will have problems browsing the presets and using the hyped
multitimbral instances.

If it stays like this for me, maybe Push is only a desktop-disco
with smartie-effects and i will consider a second APC40...
i have heard they are cheap at the moment and they let better assign
what i need in live situations.

And that is why I said Push & Maschine Studio and software were apples & oranges. It depends on what you want to do. I'm not bashing Push, I'm hoping the integration between the hardware and software is as good as it currently is with Maschine Studio. (And with 2 cool color screens too).

Yeah it's hard to beat Maschine's browsing and instrument selection and control COMBINED with Push's note input capabilities

The Studio has dedicated buttons so you don't have to use the shift key like you did with the Mk2. On the Mk2, you really couldn't get as deep into the editing, for example, the two color screens allow you to dig deeper into the scenes. One screen is sort of a far away view, and the second can zoom in. I probably didn't do this description justice, but it is better, at least for me from a work flow perspective.

Right now, there is not much other difference, other than what has been mentioned. The big deal is the browser, but you do see that on the Computer screen. The Mk2 is an awesome device, for sure.

I'll be interested to see what NI does with the screens when they release the new template for Live (they could get creative). I'm pretty sure NI will be adding features to the Studio..... but I think the mouse is probably as good as the jog wheel.

The mixer is great (level/pan assigned to each knob, so you don't have to change focus when adjusting); I imagine that will be applied to Mk2 and the Live template for sure...

I think NI was just great in making Maschine 2 software backwards compatible all the way back with the hardware.....

Ok you guys are going to hate me for this but I really can't stand JEllis' finger drumming any more.

I don't know what it is; does he turn OFF pressure sensitivity or something? It doesn't feel like there's any subtlety to what he does, it's just a barrage.
Where's the syncopation? Where are the ghost hits? Where are the gaps in the sound? You need space to breathe dude.


..or it might be the sounds he chooses, I can't tell you, it's all a bit cheesy.

This is more my sort of thing even though it's much more simplistic and using loops and hits. <-click for some Jel finger drumming.
It has more subtlety and swing. Look at the way Jel uses his whole arm and wrist like a traditional drummer as opposed to Jeremy who looks like he's playing a piano.

>To conclude< You should be able to do what you want, with what you want if you're willing to put the time in to hone your craft. Doing everything from a controller isn't always the best option I've come to realise. e.g. with PXT-Live you are able to make MIDI note selections and edit their parameters, but doing it this way is FAR slower than just selecting with the mouse. It's about the end result and the sound you want to achieve after all.
