I don't know what it is; does he turn OFF pressure sensitivity or something? It doesn't feel like there's any subtlety to what he does, it's just a barrage.
Where's the syncopation? Where are the ghost hits? Where are the gaps in the sound? You need space to breathe dude.


..or it might be the sounds he chooses, I can't tell you, it's all a bit cheesy.

This is more my sort of thing even though it's much more simplistic and using loops and hits. <-click for some Jel finger drumming.
It has more subtlety and swing. Look at the way Jel uses his whole arm and wrist like a traditional drummer as opposed to Jeremy who looks like he's playing a piano.

Doing everything from a controller isn't always the best option I've come to realise. e.g. with PXT-Live you are able to make MIDI note selections and edit their parameters, but doing it this way is FAR slower than just selecting with the mouse. It's about the end result and the sound you want to achieve after all.

I agree, Maschine had that option to select notes and events and I never used it much. It felt like doing surgery with boxing gloves.

Perhaps 'PXT-Live Plus <-click' can give you what you need. If not then get involved with the beta testing that Stray opens to us regularly.

I've not tried this but maybe 'Capture' can do this.. dunno about colours though.. seems like a superficial request.

Naw, we dont hate anyone here. I'm not a fan of Jeremy, but he does have some pretty fast fingers, wheter he is play a Maschine or a Push.

Color is to keep track of the tonal center when under pressure and performing live under pressure if you're doing chord progressions (sigh) .....
Stray informed me some of it can be done with PXT-Live....

I'm with you. As nice as it is to have the sample waveform on the MK1 screen, I don't even look at it. I'm looking at my 23" monitor while fiddling the knobs.

I really don't understand the draw of the smallish screens on the studio.

I've got Maschine MK1 with 2.0 & I've got Push with Live Intro... I bought Maschine to replace my MV-8800. I bought Push to replace my Fantom-X.

Oh boy. I just watched a tutorial about Maschine 2.0's macro abilities. I've always felt that their original macros were severely broken. The % factor was repulsive, every item you mapped left 50% of your rotary useless.

Do they still allow a. Multiple parameters to one macro and b. Midi mapping of macros??

Well, my second try at a Push arrived. About half of the RGB's have a pinkish shade to them, and is about what I remember with my first one, so quality control procedures at Ableton apparently have not improved (this was in a shipment that arrived about 3 weeks ago). Also the LED's on the side are so dim as to be practically unusable in normal room lighting (so I'll have to memorize them).

But I am disappointed and underwhelmed with the electronics interface of the hardware....
you CAN do better, Akai/Ableton ....

Update: I used the calibration tool, and the matrix looks great - I had tried to run it with Live running, and that didn't work, but running the calibration tool in standalone solved the issue. My Push looks just like the ads now.. good work Ableton!

and that is just one reason I sold mine on eBay, but looking forward to the next version. I think it will be released right after Bitwig.

I purchased AudioModder, and that works GREAT to select presets from Live's browser. Well worth the $20...\

For all my caveats, Push is great fun, and the touch sensitivity DOES make a difference to me. I just wish it would remember the last scale for the next time I turn it on... (I ordered everything PXT from NativeKontrol but haven't had a chance to work with it yet. But off to a good start; maybe the Push will grow on me.

BTW, Push and Maschine Studio really work well together, so far....

Update: I got the calibration tool, and was able to calibrate the push so that it looks GREAT! (I was trying to run the calibration tool with Live running, which didn't work; running it standalone was the answer...)
