Automagically sync rendered tracks w iPhone
Automagically sync rendered tracks w iPhone
Hey y'all-
What do you use to make sure whenever you render a track and plug in your phone it automatically syncs to your iPhone so you can listen to your drafts in the car or show them to people and always have the most up-to-date version?
E.X. when i render a draft of a song, it's a pain to stream a wav off dropbox (or convert each time to mp3), so would be sweet if it was already on my phone. Ideas?
Thanks!

Re: Automagically sync rendered tracks w iPhone
I have not actually tried this so, I do not know how well it works. I'm basically sharing the idea of it.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audio-m ... 90684?mt=8
An app like that one claims to be able to upload and download files via FTP.
I know that my fl studio app lets me upload and download wav files from my laptop browser. They give me a URL to type in. But I can only open those files within fl studio.
I think with a little searching around you should be able to find some kind of FTP app or something which allows audio file transfer.

I use an app called "Air PlayIt".
It allows you to stream from set folders (on WIFI and mobile) but also has a "download to device" option so I can first download the mix to my phone then stream it. That is as "automajic" as I can get it.
I have spent months trying to get the stupid iTunes WIFI Sync crap to have files sync from my server to my phone Never works for more than a few days but it is possible to have that work (I need another 3rd party script thjat updates my itunes library too because it doesn't auto-scan locations outside its own folders).
Just realised how much I HATE iTunes and the whole music suncing stuff again

This is why I rarely post in here. People waaaaay overthinking things.
1. Create a playlist in iTunes called "my drafts" or whatever.
2. Drag your track to it.
3. Plug in your iPhone and sync it.
Listen to it on the stock Music app.
BONUS TIP. Still do steps 1 and 2 and subscribe to Match. You'll be able to stream that track or download it wirelessly without having to plug your iPhone in.

Aaaannnddd..... If you don't use itunes on your computers what does one do? No way in hell will I install that on my rigs. It is on my server but that requires me to:beats me wrote:This is why I rarely post in here. People waaaaay overthinking things.

go into the data room,
connect the phone physically to the server,
VNC into the server,
clunk around in itunes to make playlists,
drag in the files (because itunes doesn't like to import on its own),
sync the phone.
Seems that is more thinking than:
open app,
Find song
click download
As for the wireless sync stuff that seems to only work when it feels like it.

I think most people don’t have that elaborate of a setup/network, and the OP really didn’t say. I’m willing to bet he’s plugging his iPhone into the same computer he produces music on.
Agreed Match isn’t 100% reliable, but it’s an option.

@beats that's mildly useful but I think anyone using iTunes knows that. It's a 1/2 way good solution but what I was asking was a way to do this without manually dragging every single draft into iTunes. I render a lot of drafts and it sucks to not happen to have it synced up to show people. Guess Soundcloud is the best option

It’s all good. I’m just sometimes surprised how many people don’t know how to use iTunes or refuse to use it because they think it’s a tool of the devil.
Re: Automagically sync rendered tracks w iPhone
I have my iTunes set to automatically sync when I plug it in.
And that takes too long.
I just want a quick switch up.
Which is why FTP type activity is really fast and effective.
As I said before, on my fl studio, I simply have both devices using my home wifi, I type the URL laptop into my browser, and there is a website loaded from in my phone, which lets me upload or download things between both devices. It is as fast as typing in the URL.

Re: Automagically sync rendered tracks w iPhone
not bad, but again, not that good when you're out and want to show potential fans / producers / labels you randomly run into.
