got a MBPro now I need a monitor
got a MBPro now I need a monitor
I didn't realized that there is no way I can live with a 13" screen even a 15" would not work for me. I have a copy of Live running on my 27" iMac too and it's so much better. I was going to add a monitor to the MBpro. Any suggestions? I don't really want to spend 1000 bucks on an apple unless there is a compelling reason to do so. Looks like there are some Samsung 27" monitors around 300 bucks. Or is a TV OK too? The MBpro has HDMI out

the problem with the TV option is that the max resolution is usually only 1920 x 1080. in comparison, the 27" iMac is 2560 x 1440.
Dell do some good deals for monitors. if you want something of similar picture quality to your iMac, get one of their Ultrasharp models. wait for a special though.

I went to look at some monitors and dang all the cheap ones were so depressing to look at compared to the thunderbolt display so I bit the bullet and got that one. Good thing for interest free financing

Really love mine. Frees up your power supply for another location and adds 3 USB ports too.

You can get something that looks as good for a lot less. Korea ships directly, various companies.

Yeah there are some decent Korean screens about at the same res, only caveat being the build quality. If you can live with that I hear they also use the same panels as they do in the Thunderbolt Monitors. I just came into some cash and got seduced, wouldn't normally have spent that much but I am enjoying it a lot.

OS X 10.9.1 may have fixed the external display issues of 10.9, but I haven't verified this myself. I know on 10.9 as soon as you changed the external display from mirrored desktop (default) to extended desktop, it no longer recognizes displays that you connect.
I'd look into it a bit to make sure you won't have a several hundred dollar paperweight until Apple fixes it.
