"Add Track" and MIDI FROM

Post by Jargonaut » Sat Jan 04, 2014 6:19 am

Hey all -

When PUSH creates a new channel in LIVE (via the "Add Track" button), the new channel's "MIDI FROM" is set to ALL INS and ALL CHANNELS.

This means that channel and the devices in it are catching all MIDI from other controllers as well... so when I change a loop using my foot controller, I'm getting rim shots and cymbal crashes.

I can see no published way to set the default MIDI FROM settings for new PUSH-generated tracks.. at minimum it should capture only PUSH-generated MIDI commands.

Anyone have insight here?

Many thanks -

:)

If you create a new midi channel. And don't touch anything on it at all. You can use it to make a 'default midi channel'.

To do this, only change the parameters that you want to always be changed whenever you make a new midi channel.

Then right click on the title bar of that channel and choose Save as Default midi channel.

I did this with an instrument rack. My instrument rack happened to be in a directory that has all my favorite material. So I can create a new midi track. And then hit Browse and I'm automatically in that directory.
