What's up Live community! I am about to invest in Ableton Live 9 Suite with Push, and am looking to establish a relationship with a mentor who is a master with Ableton Live. I'm going to contact Ableton support and see if they have any input on the individuals they publicly accredit as certified trainers on Monday. I thought it would be another helpful resource to pose these questions to you all as well =). Here's a few things to consider with me personally:
I am a slow learner, and put most of my value simplicity, fundamental sounds and feeling. This influences what I am interested in doing with Ableton immensely... which is developing a dynamic jam environment that bridges organic and artificial sounds. Pretty Lights, Michal Menert, Griz, Gramatik, and Kill Paris are among some of the artists that engage me the most...and they all work with Ableton a lot.
I have used the trial, twice. I love it.
If any of you have worked with any certified trainers, or have any honest advice or recommendations in seeking out a one-to-one sort of learning relationship, I would love to hear from you!
(ps. Most of my understanding of music comes from the piano (sort of like Keith Jarret...crazy free), and a lot of blues. I dropped out of music school due to the cost, but of all the content I was presented, I found theory to be the most engaging, which I am now eternally thankful for paying attention to... Some people just don't know fundamentals, others don't value fundamentals, me... I'm all about the fundamentals)
Please be honest, there's so much garbage on the internet these days...everyone talking like they know everything and crap.
(pss. shit. I probably should have mentioned Hip Hop. Deltron 3030, Common Market, Jurassic 5, Wu-Tang... these wizards (and they're beat making warlocks) take me to different levels. My intuition is directing me towards a big emphasis on sampling/composing drum tracks (before impregnating them with soulful melody. Any input from you fellow Automators out there... you know who you are, and I will be eternally grateful)
Thanks for your time =)

I know Madeleine Bloom offers one on one training... not sure if your music styles are aligned.

Ill Gates has an online tutorial course which blends some technical tricks with a very useful approach to musical creation. It is a tad pricey, and Dylan is not exactly the humblest guy on the interweb, but there's some real value there.

Hi
I`m completely new to Ableton and DAWS in general. My son is more musical than me and plays guitar etc. and also runs a mobile disco etc. I got interested in recording and messing about with sound after a short taster course at a local college and decided to go for ableton live 9.
I used as much free info/tutorials from utube and the web in general as I could find and found these very helpful in getting started.
I have recently started a online course with producertech http://www.live-courses.com/. I have found the material very easy to follow and I got the beginners and advanced courses during a offer and it was very good value. You can reister for free and download a couple of sample sessions. The main man, Rob Jones, is always on hand vis email to help with any problems and they also have a forum. Not sure if he does 1 to 1 but might be worth asking as he is a really nice guy.
Cheers
Paul

Create music in real time, on stage, or while producing in the studio, with Ableton Live. In this course, music professor Rick Schmunk shows you how to compose, record, remix, improvise, produce, and edit your musical ideas. Along the way, get familiar with the Live interface, work with its views for recording and editing audio and MIDI, and explore its unique real-time recording and mixing capabilities. Plus, learn real-world production skills that can be applied to songwriting, studio production, and DJing. Re: Shopping for 1-1 Ableton Training
Thanks for the advice! That ill gates guy seems to have some good insight on the nature of how content is presented and the focal points of learning. This is why I'm being particularly picky with finding a mentor, I see a lot of overlapping perspectives that are saturated with technicalities, and have zero originality. I wish Alaska had a certified Ableton trainer..
