On the right side of the screen are several buttons to show and hide features.

One of them is for inputs/outputs and monitoring ( the i/o button ).

Activate that and you will see your routing options.

Next, with your midi channel, you choose whatever channel your midi guitar vst is placed in. What it is receiving isn't actually 'audio', but it knows there is a midi transmitting device in that audio channel. So choose whatever audio channel has the vst within it. If it makes things easier name the audio channel 'guitar input'. Then you can select that on your midi channel :)

thanks yur but this is actually the point where I get stuck

there's NO "audio" option in the little INPUT menu on the MIDI channel :)

the MIDI plugin goes into an Audio track and the MIDI track receives the its audio signal

this is what I get (and this is also what differs from Live8 to Live 9… in Live8 you get the "AUDIO" option in this MIDI channel menu … as seen in the video)

hope it helps ;)

yep ..

if you check the video you'll see that the plug basically transforms the incoming guitar signal into MIDI … it just needs a MIDI track with a synth (say Operator) to be routed to… but the Audio option isn't available in Live9 … give a brief look at the video and you'll see

I understand that part. I'm just as surprised as you are that it is not showing up as an option. Now it is bugging me haha

It isn't an audio option in the video either. Looks to me like Live 8 sensed the audio track as a midi source.

If this doesn't work in Live 9, I'd open a support request. Maybe they've dropped (or forgotten) the feature.

funny thing is that is not just a "feature" .. that IS the only thing that makes it work afaik

anyways I contacted them, they told me Live9 is definitely supported and this is the answer I've got

We didnt have time to make a live 9 tutorial yet, but its really more of a Live question on how to load and setup a VST. Im sure the Live community/forum can help.

obviously he didn't get what I was talking about … I sent the pic above anyway .. which is self explanatory ..and waiting for a response

really curious to find out how it actually works in Live9

keep you posted ;)

Is suggest changing the title of your original post to include the name of the vst you are using. A lot of people skip over vaguely descriptive titles.

I don't have this plugin (and their homepage doesn't exist?`[edit:ah, back online])

But try to set the output of the audio channel to the input of the vst (sitting on the midi channel).

Edit: Tried and I got it to play the internal piano sound, but it doesn't seem to output midi notes...
Edit2: Okay, got it working.

not possible m8 :)

the only output options (on an Audio channel) we have are

- Ext.Out
- Master
- Configure
- Sends Only

tried but non of these do the trick
