Push remote script for 4 drum pads?

Post by Giacomo17 » Wed Jan 15, 2014 4:51 am

Hi folks. I'm wondering if someone has written a script yet, or found some other way, to have 4 drum pad grids on the same pad display (a square of four 16-pad grids), as opposed to the standard setup of just one drum pad grid in the bottom left corner.

thanks!

Giacomo

Hi Giacomo,
http://www.nativekontrol.com/PXT_Series.html
This is much more advanced that what you ask but it will do this :)

Hi MauronDJ, thanks for the reply.

But I'd rather not have to pay some 36 bucks just so I can do this rather simple function (36 being the cost for PXT Live with its add-on, the add-on being the part that seems to do what I'm talking about here). It's paying for A LOT of stuff I probably wouldn't ever use much.

Any other ideas?

Incorrect, PXT-Live on it's own does what you ask (and SO much more) so $19.50

or... you could NOT have this feature and wait until Ableton fix this themselves :)

It's only a 'rather simple function' if it is already implemented. If you don't know how to script or write m4l patches then it becomes a more complex function no?

I'm interested in this as well, but I don't want to cough up 20 dollars. I already spent a lot of money on the Push. It's amazing how many simple features are missing. The community does a better job at implementing proper functionality than their devs.

Ableton do seem to have ground to a halt but then again it seemed that way just before they dropped the last point release on us.

It makes so much sense to create Push thus:

DrumRacks
  • 8x8 Real-time pads.
  • 4x4 Real-time pads, 4x4 Loop Length Control, 8x4 Step Sequencer.
Instruments
  • 8x8 Real-time pads.
  • 8x3 Real-time Pads, 8x4 Step Sequencer, 8x1 Loop Length Control. (Monophonic Step Sequencer)
Image

I hardly ever use their current Polyphonic Step sequencer other than to do some per-Step Automation, but that could also be done on the Monophonic Step Sequencer.
Who here finds the Polyphonic sequencer useful?

p.s. As an addendum I'd like to add that I totally agree with the points made on this thread, and that I have submitted several official Feature Suggestions on their Centercode Beta site. Fingers crossed they're aware of this and working on an elegant solution.. but in the meantime :)

I'm glad you folks feel similarly. I don't ever use the polyphonic step sequencer.

the 20 buck PXT thing I just got is cool, but since you have to go over to user mode to use it, but a lot of times it's just too much when it comes to the simple, readily available playability that Push is supposed to be based on. I oftentimes feel like

thanks for the replies guys!

Ah Giacomo, you bit the bullet and went for PXT.

Don't worry, it all becomes second nature muscle memory after a while. User mode is just like any other Push mode and it switches to PXT-Live in an instant. I very often jump to it just to access things like Arrangement View loop controls, or for switching between Arrangement and Session (amongst others)

There's also loads to PXT, my personal favourite mode being 'Clip Play Mode - Mono Sub-Mode'. Basically mar style clip chopping.
