Live 5 won't start!

I did a fresh install of w2k last week, so basically the only thing on my machine is live and a few vsts. It has been working flawlessly, although I am new to it and haven't done anything complex to bog it down.
However, this morning I double-clicked the icon and the live splash popped up..
when it got to the 'initializing' it hung there, and eventually froze the whole computer ; couldn't even get to the taskmanager..
thoughts? suggestions?

ok, I got it to start..removed a few suspect vst's.
However, it gives a msg (which I remember it doing this last night as well)
"cannot create folder "EQ3" in folder "D:\ableton\presets"

Sounds like you may have permissions issues with the library directory. Try to create the EQ3 folder in D:\ableton\presets and see if that takes care of it.

When I have issues with any software not starting, the first thing I do is remove all VSTs and VSTi and just get it to run. Then I slowly add the safe plugs, and slowly figure out the offending plugin.
