Re: Bitwig 1.0
At NAMM Futuremusic put a tired looking Dom in a small room and make him talk about Bitwig for their amusement.

Also the dude from Livid demos their controller on Bitwig, doing the traditional bleep-blurp-squark noises that people attempt to call music these days

I’d say 80% of the time when watching a demonstration or tutorial on something the song they are working on is absolute rubbish, and I don’t mean “not my taste” rubbish. I mean rubbish by anybody’s standard. I don’t know why it’s so difficult for some producers to demonstrate functionality and with a song that is also respectable. Maybe the producer is overly paranoid that people are going to steal a potentially successful track. Just seems odd “I have over 20 years of production experience. Let me show you with this song that sounds like a Casio preset from the 80’s.”

I was actually excited when I first heard about Bitwig, but it has omitted one key feature that's a deal breaker for me.
The Crossfader.

Re: Bitwig 1.0
I'd say it's probably because a lot of music equipment and software developers love music and even had hopes of being a great artist some day. Then they realized they sucked at it and would never be able to be good at it so they decided to make music equipment instead. This would allow them still be involved even though they had no hope of creating good music.beats me wrote:Angstrom wrote:Also the dude from Livid demos their controller on Bitwig, doing the traditional bleep-blurp-squark noises that people attempt to call music these days![]()

Edit: reread what you posted.
But wouldn't it serve a developer better if somebody demoing their software or gear actually writes good music?
The goofy dude from Spectrasonics comes up with some decent stuff and examples.

True and I agree. I'm not saying that it's always the case, just really that it's a possibility.beats me wrote:Edit: reread what you posted.

I think there should be mandatory prison time for anybody demoing a step sequencer and they make a basic House beat.

That's why I facepalmed when that was the first thing Four Tet did in his 10 minutes video.
I'm ok with 4 on the floor, but not as a lazy default. How about trying to be creative and unique first?
If nothing works you have it to fall back on.
