Some clarification about the rules?
Some clarification about the rules?
So a thread was wiped just now.
I know the new rules say no politics or religion, but to be honest I thought that was to kill off the endless talk about various isms that swamped the forum recently. Which we managed to avoid in the deleted discussion more or less, I thought.
Obviously, pretty much every current affairs topic can be seen to relate to politics somehow. So does this mean we can't actually talk about what's going on in the world at all?
Was there any specific part of that conversation that lead to the deletion? The surveillance thing? The global warming part? My joke about animal farm?
I'm happy to follow the rules of the forum, but I'm not sure where the boundaries lie.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned that I don't fear the mods (Because live without the Live forums is still a slight possibility for me, as opposed to you junkies
- Ah, who am I kidding?!
)
At least that was the very last post made to that thread

Oh, that ties so beautifully into that closed thread: Keeps the citizens on their toes, the rules are a moving target and can/will be changed at Big Brothers whimandydes wrote: I'm happy to follow the rules of the forum, but I'm not sure where the boundaries lie.

I thought I got banned because when I went to post a response in that thread when I hit submit it said I wasn’t authorized to read the forum. Guess that was just the result of the thread being deleted. I think I’ve stuck to the rules.
I think in general you can’t talk about anything that gets people fired up if it isn’t related to music or music production. I will be putting together a code legend that will show how you can still talk about heated topics but under the guise of hating on Live.
Clip automation = corporate puppets
Auto filter = media brainwashing
Delay compensation = government handouts
Convolution reverb = climate change
And so forth.

It's amazing that probably one of the places where you can discuss most freely the competitor Bitwig and hate on Live on the web, is so repressive in this regard. I say it again: Thanks Funkenbeats me wrote:I thought I got banned because when I went to post a response in that thread when I hit submit it said I wasn’t authorized to read the forum. These Clip automations, use their Auto filter and Delay compensation to cover up the Convolution reverb. It of couse also leads to Dither. But the browser searches and Beat Repeat (This one is point on
But luckily we have Headroom, the opiate of the fanboys

.... Normalizing = Forum censorship
Re: Some clarification about the rules?
kinda weak that we can't have a discussion... but so is the way of the world.
what's politically correct almost always washes away tradition for better or worse.
the lowest common denominator sets the bar... so ironic that the people that were over the top are all ousted and the rest of just get to sit here and twiddle our thumbs in the police state they left behind.
Beat repeat and normalizing in the same rack... let's make it a M4L device and call it AbletonDaveltonGbyeWavelton Censoring Delay

+1 to that device rack
It should contain only a Utility set to Mute

the new Ableton logo:

Re: Some clarification about the rules?
Hard pan left = liberal
Hard pan right = conservative
Scale and chord device rack = socialist
M4L programming = libertarian
Ableton’s upgrade pricing structure = tax laws

I'm finding the legend hard to understand. Would it be too much to ask to take advantage of either some iWork graph or Pitch Black's brilliant use of Windows Paint?I will be putting together a code legend that will show how you can still talk about heated topics but under the guise of hating on Live.
You know how I am all 'pikshers ftw'
As I am humbly equal to everyone else's Ableton forum citizenship status though, I am not asking in some servient context, but only to translate words to a form of literacy I understand.
Re: Some clarification about the rules?
Paddy is clearly a man of many professional level talents.
We’re still ironing out the totality of the code here. Maybe then a fancy graphic or filterable spreadsheet can be made.
Once it becomes part of our normal language we can satisfy our need to debate and keep both Ableton and the people who only joined the forum to bitch about our behavior happy.
