Ableton and Vestax VCM-600. Custom preset and LED lights
Hello!
Month ago I have bought Vestax VCM-600 controller to setup with Ableton Live. This controller allows me to make great live mixes and all is good excerpt one thing. I don't use factory preset for this controller - it don't fits my setup. I use custom mappings for my presets and there is one problem. When I turn on/off the button it sends midi signal and, for example, clip starts play or stop BUT led light don't react to this toggles. I mean button lights like STOP, CF assign, CLIP, TRACK etc don't react to my toggles. When I assign Live's functions with factory preset all light works good, but I need to use my own, custom preset. Can you please tell me maybe I need to edit some files with midi signals or some scripts to make all the button lights?
All the best

do you have the MIDI OUT for the script enabled as well?
also, what exactly is it that doesn't fit your setup? maybe there is some other way you can map within Live rather than editing the script. I have most of the controls on mine hard mapped into my template set and don't use the instant mapping other than for the 8 macro knobs, mainly because I like to set the maximums to 0dB rather than 6dB, but also because it allows me to sometimes change things around like track position or use group tracks without losing the mappings.

You see.. I can map anything I need - it's not a problem. The problem is that if I map all the controllers by myself not every button lights as it must. For example if I choose factory preset VCM-600 in Control Surface list all the buttons, knobs and leds work as they are mapped. If I want to map it by myself I can map in Live every knob button and fader BUT not all the buttons lights will work as they must. If I press map stop button in Live to stop button on my VCM the light will not respond when I press it but stop the clip will be stopped, understand? Not all the button's lights work as they must. I don't see any predrences for LED lights so I ask about scripts. Maybe there I can find where I can map the leds..

Best
i.e - in the prefs for "Output : VCM600 Output (VCM600)" the track and remote buttons should both be on

Sure I activate the OUT. And output works but not on all the buttons. For example play button work as I need but if I map loop buttons the work but lights will not be activated.

Had the same thing bug me so:
I did a dumb work around using dummy clips. Every led will light up if it's assigned to a play action. So along with your regular mapping just double map a looped dummy clip if u want the led to light up & hide those dummies somewhere down the scene where u can't see them (they bothered me
). Also, you can create your own modded VCM600 script, so you could adapt to your template maybe. I didn't have the time to try that yet, but it's possible. Hope this helps.

The dummy clip method works; quick, easy fix -- all my lights work with this method.
Good tip. Ran into the same problem -- was worried I'd have to code my own script... !
