M-Audio AudiophileUSB ASIO Live v2 crash, reboot everytime..

Post by venicebeachsurf » Sat May 10, 2003 10:29 pm

I have been using Live v1.5 (although upgraded to v2.03) with M-Audio AudiophileUSB and Reason v2.0. I am running Windows XP-professional on an HP-Pavilion n5470 notebook – 1 GHz Athlon, 255mgRAM. It has been working very well up until recently.

THE PROBLEM: While in LIVE – preferences set to ASIO with using LIVE as monitor on “YES” – LIVE crashes almost immediately after loading up. When I end the program, it stays in my “System Processes” using around 26mg of system memory and 01% of processor power. I have to restart the system. LIVE v1.5 works well with my computer and I have had no problems with it, however – I have produced many tracks and saved them in LIVE v2 and would like to use them!

WHAT I’VE TRIED: ---- Removing REASON
---- Removing LIVE v2 to revert to v1.5, then Reinstalling LIVE v2
---- Removing M-Audio Audiophile and Reinstalling
---- Removing everything, then reinstalling everything but Reason
None of those have worked…
Anyone know what I can do?

Thanks for the help,

VBSurf

Hi venicebeachsurf,

we heard about problems using the Audiophile USB in Live. Maybe the problem you have is related. What happens if you try to use the DirectX driver of the Audiophile? Is the behaviour the same?

I have an Audiophile in my office since Friday evening so I hope I can get closer to this problem next week.

Alex

Hi Alex,

With DirectX - the program is much more stable, however - there are a large amount of "pops and clicks" that occur with DX in use. There is also a problem with latency using DirectX rather than ASIO. (ASIO having an immediate response and DirectX having delay (Nicht gut fuer Mein' Gig Spielen!)) Any idea of what the problem may be attributed to?

thank you,

ASIO seems to write two files on C: test.pcm and testout.pcm which grow beyond bound.

I also have not had ANY luck getting completed recordings with the MME drivers..

Hi folks,

pjkemp is right. As soon as the AudiophileUSB ASIO driver is used he writes down these 2 files into the root directory. it's probably some kind of tesfiles that M-Audio forgot to disable in the release. I used the latest M-Audio driver 1.5.4.12 from 08.03.2003.

Beside that I had now problems with the Audiophile USB so far. I can use with a buffer size of 128 and had no problems. But I tested it also just for 15min.

venicebeachsurf, you could send me the log file of Live ("...\Ableton\Live 2.0.3\Preferences\Log.txt"). Maybe so I can get closer to the problem.
Some other questions...
Can you use the Audiophile in Reason without Problems?
Do you had the chance to test the Audiophile USB on another computer?

regards,
Alex
