Is it possible to colour whole sections of Arrangement view?

Post by tigali » Fri Jan 31, 2014 1:50 am

Rather than having to change the colour of each clip in an area, if I wanted to highlight a section of a song across multiple tracks, is there any quick way to do this?

yeah, just click a blank space on the grid and drag... use the resulting box to select with your mouse... to make the selection... then right click and select a color.

done.

Highlight the sections you want over multiple tracks then Ctrl+j(consolidate) highlight again right click and pick a color and that will be applied to all selected.

^ you shouldn't have to consolidate.

He will have to consolidate if he wants to highlight a certain section of the arrangement to be the same color over multiple tracks.

maybe i'm missing something in the OP... and i appologize if so, but i tried it on a 7 track set of mine and it doesn't even have to be a whole piece of audio... i can select 16 bars of a 32 bar audio track and it will change the color of the whole thing... meanwhile, 2 tracks down I have 8 two bar MIDI parts on another track and all 8 of them become highlighted and then take the color of my choosing.

:? am i not understanding the question?

He can do it without consolidate by selecting the region then using the Split command (ctrl E) then he cabn set clip colours.

Yeah, that'll work also. Everyone has their own workflow.

Thanks for the replies. Yep, I hadn't thought of splitting the selected audio before attempting to colour them. You don't have to consolidate it would seem, but you do have to split, otherwise it just colours the entire length of the selected tracks and not just the selected region.
