Pressing the record button will record a new clip
Whenever the selected track is armed, pressing the record button will launch a new clip record. Which is not the case by clicking on the computer. This behavior is dangerous. Am i missing something ?

That's not supposed to work this way.

huh ?
That's weird. Just to be sure, i am talking about the session record button (the red circle). It does this from push but not from mouse clicking.

Yep.
I thought this could be related to the "start transport with record" option that was introduced at some point after the 9.0 release, but I play with the option and couldn't reproduce your behavior.
(Why was this option was implemented ? I can't remember, but I know you know because it was discussed here, and you were part of it).
Do you observe this behavior with audio clips ? Midi ? Both ?
I think I had the same problem when I got my push, but I just tried all the options and can't re-do it.

Oh, maybe your firmware is not the last one ?
Push should normally detect it and propose you to update, but ...
Which Live version ?

Just upgraded the firmware, running 9.1.1 and this is the same.
clicking and using the button in push do not produce the same result.

Re: Pressing the record button will record a new clip
It happens on midi and audio tracks. Contacted ableton.
(reason is :
i've got many tracks record enabled, cause i loop on the fly and have to keep them ready to record. Pressing the session record on the push will then record empty clips in all of these tracks. And this is really bad !)

That is strange, I know your setup and have already tried to see what happens, but couldn't reproduce it.
Did you try the "start transport with record" option to see if it resolve your problem ?

Re: Pressing the record button will record a new clip
do you mean that new clips are recorded beneath the current clips?
not sure what you mean without seeing your screen.
are all your tracks record-armed using the mouse & cmd-click before you move over to Push?

Re: Pressing the record button will record a new clip
Nope, not solved.
let me explain the issue once more, so it's really clear :
In live 9, the default behavior of the session record button is : you click on it, it will hit record in every armed track. To avoid it, go in prefs, uncheck 'launch transport when record' (which is a strange label for the effect....anyway). Now when you click it, it enables OVR in armed MIDI tracks, and enable session automation record if the appropriate control is checked. Perfect.
Now do the same but with the button on Push. Stuck to the first behavior, regardless of the 'launch transport when record' in the prefs.

Re: Pressing the record button will record a new clip
I've already completely understood what you mean Chapelier.
And I really can't reproduce. I did the test with your configuration (one INPUT track with the input selector set to "In" feeds many other audio tracks whose are set to receive input from the INPUT track, input selector set to "off", all armed).
Here, the Push rec button works exactly like the session record button on the screen...
Are you using any m4l device that could eventually conflict with Push's behavior, or a midi script ?
