Push has much more potential as shown by nativekontrol scripts that isn't being implemented natively, many of which is asked a lot by users.

The product works as advertised, but people has a lot of expectation above that.

Since ableton endorses via social media all kind of scripts and max devices for it is clear that they have decided that Push has a basic implementation for beginner-intermediate users and Advanced users probably will find their way using third party stuff, hacking and what not.

Yes, I also think Push has a lot more potential, but also that people have unrealistic expectation. It's like getting processed food and knowing it's content from the labels, but still disappointed it didn't include X, Y, Z.

I think that if some product doesn't satisfies your needs as it is you shouldnt be getting it.

However, don't you think it's a wonderful thing that we CAN bend it to our will? The things that are missing or broken from Maschine are as is.

Maybe it's because I grew up in an era where hacking things (like Acorn BBC games) was the norm.
Yeah the fact that it's scriptable is great. I know how to program and I COULD tailor it to suit my needs, but I want to make music instead. Also I'm sure most of the 3rd party scripts will eventually be native, so I rather not spend my nights programming. Guess we just have to wait and see.

^ then there's the updates that flush all your scripts out anyway.

..but the updates are such a slow trickle these days that luckily we don't need to do it that often :p

This is the problem with making a hardware for a software instead of the reverse.

People already know what the software is capable of. And then the hardware is always limited in one way or another. I'm sure they had to put some thought into the limitations.

And it is also quite badass that you can find ways to get it to do things that it originally did not do.

But yeah, we live in this crazy age where software and ideas are putting the smack down on the limitations of time, resources, and physical hardware limitations.

There will rarely be 100% satisfaction and contentment. When even the developers are always feeding your head with ideas of future upgrades.

I long time ago, I think around August last year, when I received Push, I defended the way its browsing works, and recommended to Angstrom, for example, using a "_" (underscore)in front of my own presets/racks to make them appear first in the list of various categories. He has since posted many in-depth reasons on why he thinks the browsing is ridiculous.

Now, after months of use, I agree. Why the hell must we be forced to wade through Live's native presets and devices to get to our own custom stuff? Why on earth can't we simply have the OPTION to discard all the presets we don't use?

I don't like having to scroll to PLACES to get to my own stuff. I also organise my User Library to mimic the core library folder structure, so that my effect presets and instrument racks of VSTs appear mixed in with Live's, for example, a Satin delay preset would also appear in Audio effect racks - Modulation & Rhythmic. It's all just a fucking mess. I get by without shedding a tear, but it's still a mess.

Here is one idea from Queglay I just found, which would put PLACES 4th in the list, thus not needing to scroll all the way down. Gonna try this today:

C:\Users\ProgramData\Ableton\Live 9\Resources\Core Library.

I haven't deleted anything yet, but that's where you'll find many of the patches, but not Drum Racks (I think).

That's for Windows 7/8 though.

On a Mac, the Core Library is contained inside the Application bundle. Access the Live 9.app, right-click on it and, from the context menu, choose "Show Package contents".

Mac OS X

/Contents/App-Resources/Core Library/
