Soundcloud previews before release... Good or bad?

Post by Vass » Mon Feb 17, 2014 9:29 pm

Hi guys,

Just a quick question. I produce house music and I keep any finished projects private while contacting labels because I am unsure if a short preview on soundcloud prior to release is a deterent for some lablels.

Im just wondering what you guys do? Make a preview of the track public and share it or keep it offline until you get a release?

Any input much appreciated!

Thanks!

If you think its huge and will sell, do not preview unless you have established relations with a label who give you the okay. However, you still want to keep your fan base active, so preview less important tracks while hinting you've got something bigger coming out. Also, free download tracks every now and then help, generally bootlegs or remixes work great as free downloads.
