Yes, I have. I have had it working from the start. I configure parameters and edit them in the .cfg file, it all works. The problem is with VSTs with more than 128 parameters, like Zebra. You can map them, edit the cfg file to taste, name the banks etc. I did all of this and it still works. The problem is when you reload Live, or place another instance of Zebra into a rack etc, the mapping disappears.

It works fine for VSTs with less than 128 parameters, like Satin and Zebralette - they load fine each time. I don't have anymore VSTs to test this theory on.

In any case, Ubermap throws the community mapping viewtopic.php?f=55&t=198946 made by TomViolenz out the window (have you installed this and used it?), and it also makes macro labels disappear on Push - they just state Macro 1, Macro 2 etc.

I have completely removed Ubermap for now and look forward to a future more solid version. I'm not too bothered though, as I've said earlier - trying to make presets on Zebra with Push is a bit like trying to steer a car with your feet. It's possible, but you're gonna run into trouble.

It's just far more practical to use the mouse and keyboard for this, and then to play with the patches you made with Push.

Hey,

Quick update from me, been a busier weekend than expected so not had a chance to try running the script on Windows... I'll read through here and see if anyone had success with Win7 compatibility mode!

On the issue with Live devices not getting the right mapping - turns out the "Ignore" flag in the config wasn't being used, must have missed this when I was making some changes, so it was loading in the exported config for Live devices, despite them being set to "Ignore = True".

I've pushed a fix for this to Github so if you download and reinstall, hopefully that'll be fixed!

Cheers,
Tom

rev_engineer wrote:Just hit on another slight issue, but it's probably quite particular to my setup.

I've been using ClyphX Macrobat to automate sends via my Push. This requires a rack called "nk track", with its macros named depending on what you want in the track to control ('send a', 'send b', 'vol', etc). Tweaking the macros then controls the named parameter.

Yesterday whatever I was calling the macros was showing up on my push as the dial name. Now it's back to 'Macro ', 'Macro 2', etc, although the functionality still works (ie, the dials still tweak the proper parameters, so ClyphX isn't broken!)

I'm assuming the name thing is because whatever was telling ClyphX Macrobat to send the names to Push is being overriden by the generated device .cfg file via Ubermap...
Ah yeah, maybe... I've not used ClyphX so don't really know what the script does! Does it work with the fix I just pushed (to make the Ignore config setting work as it should do?). If not, then I'm not sure, maybe my magic is conflicting with ClyphX's magic!

By the way, can you explain more about the set up you have with the sends and Macrobat? What does it achieve that you can't do with the "Track" encoder mode? Just curious, always up for hearing about cool tweaks :)

Great news! Sounds like it must just be Win8 that has issues. Stupid Win8 ;)

Interestingly, this happened to me a while ago. I came back to Live and Ubermap after not using it for a while and my playhead was gone. Couldn't figure out what was wrong (started to think I was mad and had imagined that there ever was a playhead, had to check on Youtube!) but figured I must have screwed up my MIDI Remote Scripts and just did a clean install of Live. Works fine now. Are you still having this issue? Maybe try starting from a clean MIDI Remote Scripts folder if so?

Weird, I think this works OK for me, I don't have Zebra2 but other devices seem OK. If you want we can try and debug it from the log output, give me a PM. Hopefully you should see the community mappings again anyway :)

Yeah, the issue persists, even after I copied back the default MIDI remote scripts folder, and removed all Ubermap stuff. I'm at a loss what caused it.

It's no big deal - I've downloaded and am using the latest Beta.

Weird, yeah was the same for me, couldn't figure out what had caused it. Will try out the latest beta when I have some free time and see how my script works with it.

Fixed it. Using an older version seemed to work (plus copying the files manually).

I've followed the instructions carefully, and I'm pretty sure that all files have been installed to the correct directories, but when I load a plugin, no CFG file is created for it in /user/Ubermap. This is my log output:

Code: Select all

INFO load config name: devices, path: /Users/alex/Ubermap/devices.cfg, subdir: None
INFO looking for config in cache: devices, timestamp: 1393196128.0

If anyone has any idea why this is happening, I'd be really grateful!

Could you try the latest version? I think this should be fixed... or at least, the main scenarios work for me (using a device with a custom mapping, using a Live device without a custom mapping, creating a new mapping file).

I'll try and be more careful to test these scenarios in each new release in future, sorry about that!

Damn. Get a Mac? Heh ;) Will try and a have a look at this, might not be until next week that I have time however, sorry about that.

Could you send me your Live Log.txt file from when it doesn't work (in normal Win8 mode) as a PM? I'll see if there are any clues.

TomViolenz wrote: Regarding the names disappearing: it souns like they dissapear from all racks. tedlogan stated as much.
In rev_engineers previous post he stated that the functionality of the Macrobat rack stayed, only the name disappeared.
Which is strange, because normally the name of the macro tells clyphx what to do with it.
Ah I see - I'm hoping the new version will have fixed this. I think what was happening was the parameters were being renamed even though the config was set to "Ignore = True", because the script wasn't actually looking at the ignore flag. The ClyphX script would still work because the Push script only affects what is output from Live to Push, not what Live sees internally.
