I'm a guitarist and am looking to use midi files as my backing tracks, ableton to arrange them into sets and simply play them in a live setting (like a pub etc)
I am trying to figure out the best path to accomplish this:
In a nutshell, this is what I have put together:
1) I'm using an external hardware device (Roland Integra 7) to handle the instrument sounds
2) I have a laptop connected to it usb to midi
3) I'm very new to Ableton and am hoping to be able to arrange my midi tunes into sets (is this possible in ableton?)
4) If possible... how in the world/what should I buy to start/stop ableton between songs? Some kind of usb/midi foot controller? Can't really be running back and forth to the laptop. Ideally I'd have some discreet pedal to do this with, but no idea what?
Just trying to get onto the right track at this point and hoping someone can give me some direction to save some grief and no doubt money.
Thanks in advance, Todd

Re: midi setup for live performance as a guitarist
Hi Todd,
I think the easiest way to do this, is to use Lives Session-view.
- open 16 Miditracks
- output of each Miditrack to your USB/Midi
- Midichannel is set 1-16
- add your midifile folder to Live´s browser
- now you can drag and drop the complete Midifiles in the slots of the Miditracks
- You can now start the midifiles as single scenes
- Start Tempo and signature can be edit by : right clicking on a scene => edit Start Tempo, edit signature
You can save one Set (like 20songs) in a Liveset or directly your whole repertoire
Nice Greetings
Martin
