personal library browsing schemes

still getting acquainted with push and its browsing strangeness.

can anyone explain or point me to a good thread which explains some tips on how to set up your library so that push can easily access my own presets?

for example: ive been dumping my user presets for racks / instruments into the main user library folder, rather than the sub folders - which i find alot simpler and faster.

i know this topic has been discussed alot, any other tips would be helpful.

well, this is how I use the browsing on Push:

I've mirrored Live's core library structure within my User library. Exact sames folder names. This means any of your own presets, racks etc will show up on Push in the same corresponding folder as the Core Library.

I've also made non-core library type folders within the user library, mainly within Instruments - Instrument racks - Zebra (as an example). here I'd save all my Zebra presets. In Audio effect racks, for example, I'd have a Satin folder, then three subfolders - Delay, Flange, Studio (for its 3 main modes), all filled with relevant presets I saved in racks etc for u-he's Satin VST.

The latter would be browsed mainly from Places on Push. I also add an underscore _ before each preset's name so they show up first. These presets I would also place in the mirrored library, so I can choose whether I wanna browse them from amongst Live's core library, or scroll all the way down to places and go from there to my own specialised folders. It sounds confusing, but it's not. I'm just explaining in a really clumsy, shitty manner right now.

Holding down Shift+preset selection buttons will scroll much faster btw.

ted - thanks for the reply. interesting. do you do this editing in the finder (osx)? i guess this means you just always go straight to the user library when browsing in push?

No, I'm on Windows. I do all the organising in Live. Create a rack for one of my presets, map the 8 macros to the most relevant controls for the particular preset, name it, and then drag it into both the mirrored User library structure and my own folder.

I suppose I scroll to the user library (places) more often than browsing my own racks/presets from amongst Live's core library, yes.
