a lot of times people get help and then never reply again (which is lame). there's nothing wrong with a "thank you" unless you're being sarcastic...

you can also try experimenting with putting one channel (left or right) out of phase with the other and then summing them, or using a M/S processor. if elements are hard-panned or right in the middle, you can sometime extract specific parts. i've only been able to do this usefully once or twice though.

and, yes, EQ'ing can get you close, but never all the way there.

a lot of the hip-hop guys will just hire a musician to re-create the specific part they want rather than trying to extract something that can't be fully extracted. it also has the added advantage of easier sample clearance- instead of paying both the performing artist and the song writer, you only have to pay the song writer. that is, if you're into clearing you samples
