Issues while DJ'ing last night (live5)

i was using live5 during a webradio show i do every thursday. i usually use traktor dj studio but decided to try some live dj'ing last night.

i spent a few hours putting together a live set with about 15 songs (from mp3s) and included some clips of those tracks to act as transitions and it all seemed to be working ok.

on the night however, if i were to alt-tab to any other app and return to live5, the spinning "I'm busy" icon would come up when i clicked on the clip "play" button in the scene view. it would persist, doing whatever the hell it was doing, for an eternity -- maybe 15-30 seconds each time. when the spinning icon went away, the play button still wasn't clicked.

after several songs ran out on me during the set (i had to alt-tab to another app a couple of times), i threw a song in itunes, mixed it in, closed live and opened dj studio to finish the set.

some possibilities: i have 1.5gb of memory in the powerbook so lack of memory or swapping couldn't have been an issue (at least it doesn't make much sense). but it DID seem to be swapping something or at least "getting its bearings" whenever a clip was targetted after live came back from being switched from another app.

i obviously can't dj like this so i'll either have to use ONLY live on this machine when DJ'ing or i'll continue to use dj studio until live's issues get addressed. i am going to post a list of stuff that needs to be looked into (in addition to this one) in a subsequent post.

if you need more facts, let me know.

has anyone else seen this? oh and it never happened in live4 which makes me think its specific to the mp3 integration.

Sounds like the delay had something to do with live decoding the mp3s to wavs or aif whatever you use.
