Song seems to lack mids. It may even lack bass. On the whole it seems very 'toppy' to my ears.
On the structure side, I would encourage you to think of varying the structure. For example at 2:10 you could try taking everything away except for the jangly guitar. More drama, ya know

Thanks for your reply Finn and the pointers......to be honest I thought the song was a bit too bassy in parts and a little muddy in other places.....but will take on board your tips

The bass that comes in at around a minute or so is a little jarring and muddy. Maybe try messing around with that by shifting it up an octave. The last note of the run doesn't really seem to sit well. You could also try rolling off the hi hats on the eq at around 19k or so to see if that makes a difference, that will give you a bit more headroom.
Otherwise, cool song. Definitely was catchy as heck and a lot of fun. Cheers!

Thanks Crabflawfajita for your comments ......I'll try and implement some of the advice you have suggested....though actual production and recording of songs isn't a strong point for me!!......I'm used to just banging out tunes in my guitar...... I find the recording side of if hardwork thanks again mate for you comments and advice.Crabclawfajita wrote:The bass that comes in at around a minute or so is a little jarring and muddy. No problem, I've been in the same boat production-wise but have been learning more and more as I go. I found this to be pretty helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYhp83QQcJMsmoulder wrote:Thanks Crabflawfajita for your comments ......I'll try and implement some of the advice you have suggested....though actual production and recording of songs isn't a strong point for me!!......I'm used to just banging out tunes in my guitar...... Just a guy mixing and eqing for an hour in Cubase. The DAW doesn't really matter here, it's just helpful to actually watch someone instead of read about it
