Another tip for warping is to zoom right in to the down beats and make sure the grey marker is in the correct position. Sometimes Live is not accurate in locating the transients. You can move the transient marker with shift key without creating a warp marker or move the audio around the marker with cmd or ctrl. (or is it the other way around? I can't remember i am not in my studio right now)
But going back to mikebundrgrnd's 2nd point: for one shots I find it best to have a drum rack set up with a new sample on each pad. Set the release time as long as possible and you can bash away at your keyboard/controller and play one shots all day long.
