ableton is just waiting users moving fully to bitwig before doing such requested feature.

It was requested a long time ago and still no move from them

You have to find your Ableton library, and navigate to the folder such as

My Documents\Ableton\Orchestral Brass\Ableton Folder Info

then open properties.cfg. and read the version number.

Code: Select all

FolderConfigData
{
  String PackUniqueID = "www.ableton.com/3";
  String PackDisplayName = "Orchestral Brass";
  String PackVendor = "Ableton";
  Int PackMinorVersion = 0;
  Int PackMajorVersion = 9;
  Int PackRevision = 29310;
  Int ProductId = 130;
  Int MinSoftwareProductId = 4;
}
In this case I have installed Int PackRevision = 29310

Now go to the website and choose "your packs", and hover over the link for the relevant pack. You will see what the current version on the server is

So in this case, I'm up to date on this particular pack
Now simply repeat this process for the 37 packs.

Simple!

Nice!!!!

Having complained about ableton, I just installed komplete 7 from dvd last night. Its just as bad although at least it version detects. It took hours and now everything needs updating so having to run a tonne of separate installers. arghhh. Why do music companies hate their users so?
I would say it's the exact opposite. 15 years ago something like Komplete would not be in the hands of the home musician due to price.

Yep.

You see that example image up there, the version number? I just checked what the current version is.

It's currently r32873
When I took that screenshot it was r29310. I still have that version. Because I hadn't manually checked the secret versions.

Code: Select all

http://cdn2-downloads.ableton.com/livepacks/ableton/orchestral-brass/9.0.1/r32873/OrchestralBrass_r32873_v9.0.alp
Quite a few packs have been updated since the initial release. I don't know which without scouring the XML. For example the Max for Live essentials - which contains the convolution reverb. I have the version came with L9.0 , but they have updated it since. I have been meaning to get it again. I need to make a list of all the new packs, and manually download them all
Of course, nobody would ever know.
