Ever see Beardyman use one? Was it the kp3? I think Jon Hopkins uses a few also.

you can live sample audio directly from the line in! or load samples onto a cf card and plug it in!

Apparently that beat shuffler does not work with the line in signal, but off a (pretty small) chip with sample memory.
This killed about 50% of my exitement.

There's four banks of sampling on the device that can either load sounds previously stored on an sd card, or you can sample directly onto the pad from a live source, saving it to the sd card if you so desire.

Also, there plenty of looper/beat shuffling effects that can be used with a live signal.

Nice vid. Very cool sounds.

The only probs I have experienced with the Kaoss Pads is midi sync. It's isn't solid at all. They dont follow full clock start stop signal. The Korgs, in slave mode, will look at the tempo only of the signal being sent to it (which will only be very close to master clock being sent) and then it locks to that. So it drifts. Wasn't even fixed on the new "plus" versions.
This is fine if you are frequently retriggering the pads as per Jon Hopkins set, but leave a sampled loop alone for a minute or two and it'll be out of sync with the rest of your set and need a manual "pull or push"
If your using a Kaoss pad just for the effects or "ambient non beat" type loops, it'll be fine (ish).

If you want a rock solid looper / sampler try the RC505, then feed from that to a Kaoss Quad.

For sampling/looping, you may want to look at the Kaossilator Pro + which is more of an instrument than an effects unit and is a much newer product.

There's a PDF file here -> http://www.korg.de/uploads/tx_softwarec ... 00_eng.pdf which details some options added for OS v2 (it describes how loops can be triggered/chopped).

I think the only flaw in your plan so far involves the last part of your workflow - replacing the pattern immediately with a new one.

The new pattern will need to be sampled in, so you either need to replace the existing loop (by recording the new one to the same pad) or record your new one to one of the other pads. Obviously the new pattern will need to play through at least once in order for the KP3 to record it before you can mess with it.

That’s what sold me on the KP3. I haven’t done any SERIOUS BUSINESS with it but it’s fun to bust out when the song you are working on is clearly going nowhere good but you still want to feel talented and like you have unique ideas in the moment.
