Dead Mouse Help

Sorry, but this has nothing to do with ablteon... hope somesone can help anyway.

switched on my desktop last night and it came up with the message saying no mouse connected. restarted several times, tried several different mice, all with no success.

the light on the optical mouse is still on.

am running win98se

still havnt solved this....
have now tried a usb mouse, but no luck with that.

i dont think it installs properly and when i plug it in my keyboard dies.

getting annoyed now cos i cant work anywhere near as quickly on my laptop as i can on my desktop
